Last night hit a pretty rough aka hard patch as using a much, much newer version of codelite the instructors favorite for classes, and compared to the older version of it the instructor uses in the classes videos...
The Lsn was on arguments as used in c code LOL...
*Codelite (C)* is a Cross Platform IDE for coding in C, C++, PHP and Node.js covering that of Windows (C) 7, 8, 8.1, 10 now Mac OSX 10.11 (C) and up only, plus the major linux os (C) types as well and *it is compatible to all compilers used on those*!...
In add: Pretty sure they do also list earlier releases of Codelite for the older Mac OsX versions as well...

Anyway hours later finally remembered, he had a few lessons back explained how important it was to set up on our machines *our own workspace areas* for the given project types we'd be using!...
The instructor video wise was going over the source code exercises on his machines pc and mac, and from *the workspace he had previously created for them on them*!...
However when we download the course exercises, we or most were trying to follow him and make them run as he did, *the big catch was, we weren't on his machine*, and *using his workspace* LOL...
When I finally created a separate workspace vis codelite for that of c code projects, and then placed the folder of all his course exercise's in it, boom it worked perfectly and got the exact same compilation and run results as he did!...
There are exceptions where other instructors stick to one usually outdated IDE but they are so very, very thorough on it and do mention the differences of the newer versions and also assist the students on theirs, so works out...

Then at the mac's command line and using C's sizeof operator, it doesn't care much for the data format specifiers (%u) etc used *with it*, and will generate build warnings on all lines that's used, but will at/in runtime give the needed or desired results without any errors at all...
Some of the mac's hs os if not others small quirks or that of the C99 itself as looked a bit of the same results when was demonstrated on his windows...
Also running CodeBlocks 13.12 can definitely be a bit touchy until you get used to it, then it does works out very well...As said 1/3 done in one C course using it on the mac so far...

As a diversion to the C's have recently spent a lot of time working with Virtual machines as part of a Linux (c) course, and went very extended there over a week to test those on both a linux (c) and a mac (c) type desktop, must have watched dozens and dozens of other long YT video's on them, a lot of companies use them also...
Many develop software products within them so any crashes don't affect their pc itself, and antivirus, etc companies analyze new threat types within them, cyber org's use them, and then many, many users use them to run that of other os's on one machine, etc...

Mainly used *to watch news as normal*, and also played some youtube (c) video's in them, and even a yahoo movie through the virtual machines that had attached the Linux iso files also...
Stuck to using Linux os distro's there and it really works well enough for that, while some install windows (c) in them for their games that have not yet been converted to the Linux or Mac OS's yet...
Also since do have a linux desktop as well, finally decided to see just how well the modern distro's work with fairly modern and currently modernized games...
Had started with Steam's Sid Mieres stuff as like the space and universes types, but don't have that large of a desktop drive so uninstalled it and another, then went with the endless of the X3 series as could fit at least 3 of those on it with some good space to spare...Everything for offline using Single player mode...
Easiest if you have them installed by Steam as all the work is done for you, in theo of GOG too *which has about 19 pages worth of games for linux*!...
However for some reason my browser didn't recognize aka could't find their installs link page, so was only left with the direct download option...
Anyway had to do all by hand in the linux terminal, and making that difficult was had only went a little ways in the linux course, so didn't know all of the commands that would need...
Also prior that in terminal had to get the update packages that just in case would allow for 32 bit game types as well...
Eventually vis many videos and forums later got the needed and vis the terminal installed 3 of the X3 series games, but only to grrr find that their */**^_* desktop shortcuts wouldn't work!...
So it was back to the forums again where others had similar X3 game issues...
In the end and better than the forums and instead of game names finally thought about them as file types, and just hit a search engine and typed *Using sh files in Linux?*...
Boom the answers for executing those file types came up for almost every linux distro type out there, and after 2 days of the prior had in a matter of minutes my more modernized X3 Terran Conflict (1 of 3) space games up and running on my linux desktop...

Have to say the Linux's have came a long, long ways and they worked flawlessly, great 3D screens, actions and movements of all types, etc and it was just the same as if they had been originally on windows (c)!...
If any interested in the near windows like of today's Linux's you can go to distrowatch.com for their rankings of the best to the worst aka that in terms of their popularities or the most used, and then to youtube to learn of any particular in more detail including installations and more...
Like the Virtual Machine's stuff as know many use it for that of their programmings environments...That as it's so easy to make errors of syntax and others especially when your C, C++ or Assembly program starts to get large...Set it all up in a virtual machine then protects your pc or mac os from any crashes that way...Something I'll be using it for...
Taking a break from the courses for awhile and will later complete the Linux admin course ahead of the C's but for now will just enjoy the fruits of all that labor, and of course some netflix, all in all *it was quite an adventure*...
If not for this blog wouldn't know what day or time it was, computers are a world unto themselves...
